Hatred turns into money. This became a ground reality, something nobody saw coming.

A Mississippi college student, Patrick McClintock, recently yelled antisemitic slurs at Dave Portnoy outside a Mississippi pizza joint. For the obvious reason, he got arrested.
But nobody had imagined that his legal defense fund would explode past $37,000. After hearing the jaw-dropping figure, fans on social media lost their minds.
Student Who Targeted Dave Portnoy Raises $37K Donation for Legal Defense
The 20-year-old student confronted Barstool Sports founder Portnoy during a pizza review outside Boardtown Pizza and Pints in Starkville on November 7.
Exclusive footage captured McClintock yelling “F— the Jews” and throwing coins at Portnoy. The clip has since turned viral online. Cops later arrested McClintock on Monday and charged him with disturbing the peace but he got released on a $2,500 bond.
Most surprisingly, a GiveSendGo fundraiser titled “DEFEND PATRICK MCCLINTOCK” has raised over $37,000 according to the latest reports. The campaign description calls him an “American patriot” who got arrested for “mean words.”

Supporters argue that the First Amendment protects McClintock’s remarks and say Portnoy used his influence to shut down criticism. But his own university turned on him.
They confirmed McClintock withdrew from the institution on Monday and is no longer a student there. Mississippi State spokesperson Sid Salter said what happened “didn’t reflect the culture and values of university.” Additionally, campus officials described the behavior as “deeply offensive and not in keeping with campus values.”

The fundraiser’s success surprised the majority of social media observers. How does someone arrested for antisemitic slurs pull in nearly $40K in donations?
The platform itself primarily serves Christian causes, adding another layer to the controversy.
Fans Torch Donors Who Funded McClintock’s Legal Defense
The GiveSendGo campaign framed it as a free speech issue, not a hate speech problem. Folks couldn’t wrap their heads around why anyone would fund a legal defense for hateful speech.
One fan wrote, “Are you tell me he’s profiting on hateful speech???”
Another said, “Garbage humans. So sad.”
A third noted, “Give the shithead and his donors a quick flyover of Gaza and see if they will repeat that statement in front of the IDF.”
A fourth remarked, “F losers like this punk.”
The fifth one claimed, “Most of the donations came from young Instagram models portnoy choked out.”
The last comment referenced past controversies involving Portnoy and allegations of rough sexual encounters with young women.
Portnoy’s built an empire on controversy. He’s got millions of fans and just as many critics. Many see him as problematic and offensive himself.

The college student hasn’t made any public statements since his arrest, and the GiveSendGo campaign is essentially speaking on his behalf. The legal situation remains murky, but his future has already been screwed.
He’s now dealing with an arrest and a suspension from school. Even with supporters funding his defense, he’s facing a rough road ahead.
