Who would’ve thought that the Army Black Knights would be undefeated in late November? Looking at their schedule thus far, Army hasn’t necessarily faced a daunting opponent, but 9-0 is 9-0 as far as I’m concerned. On Saturday night, the Black Knights will face their toughest test of the season in the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Notre Dame has been red hot since their upset loss to Northern Illinois earlier this season. If anyone has a chance to knock off undefeated Army for the first time this season, it’s Notre Dame. It will be a true David vs. Goliath matchup based off the current history of both programs, but David will certainly not be backing down.

The Time Is Now for the Army Black Knights
It’s been a long time since Army has played in a game with so much at stake. It has been years since Army was considered a football power. Those days are long gone. Saturday will be their chance to make a massive statement against one of the most well-known programs in college football history. Under the lights at Yankee Stadium, if the Black Knights can pull off the upset, things could get very interesting down the stretch.
The Knights would put themselves in excellent position to run the table and find a spot in the college football playoff. They have already clinched a spot in the conference championship game against Tulane, which will be another tough matchup, but their ultimate goal is to get to a playoff game. A win over Notre Dame would certainly catapult Army into the playoff discussion and continue their unbelievable run in 2024.
One thing that Army will be keeping a close eye on is the health of quarterback Bryson Daily. Daily has been nothing short of spectacular this season, so the Black Knights know he needs to play. Even 50% of Bryson Daily is better than nothing. Army’s last undefeated team was all the way back in 1958, so the 2024 team is determined to rewrite history. Daily has been the driving force, literally, behind Army’s triple-option assault on opposing teams.
Army currently leads the nation with nearly 335 yards on the ground per game. Daily is tough as nails and extremely hard to bring down once he gets into the open field. Playing in his final season, Daily would love nothing more than to take the Black Knights to heights they have not experienced in decades.
One Last Push
The entire nation will be watching Saturday night to see if Army will pull of the upset. The respect is already there for the brave men and woman who serve our country in the armed forces, but a victory over Notre Dame will finally give Army some respect on the football field. Army has nothing to lose at this point. If they beat Notre Dame, Army will put themselves in position for a playoff spot and knock the Irish out of the playoff race. If Army loses, they still have the opportunity to win the conference championship and play in a solid bowl game.
Why not go for it all at this point? This has been the best Army Black Knights team in years, and the time for them to win is now.
