Arizona State Sun Devils star quarterback Sam Leavitt initially injured his foot in Week 4 against Baylor and managed to play in Week 5 against TCU. Following the Week 6 BYE, he missed Week 7 against Utah and was spotted wearing a boot. Leavitt then returned in Week 8 against Texas Tech and Week 9 against Houston, although his second game back was short-lived, as he exited the game twice, once in the first quarter and again in the fourth quarter.
Arizona State Sun Devils have devastating news for star QB

Sam Leavitt has already been ruled out for Week 10 against Iowa State. During Friday’s press conference, Kenny Dillingham announced that the star QB will undergo season-ending foot surgery to address his lingering issue, as reported by Bickley & Marotta. Leavitt ended what may be his last season in college, completing 60.7% of his passes for 1,628 yards, ten touchdowns, and three interceptions, plus 300 yards on 73 carries and five scores, finishing with a 5-2 record.

Is this the end of his college career?

Since Sam Leavitt has completed the minimum of three years of college football, he is eligible to declare for the 2026 NFL Draft as an underclassman. During his two-year stint with Arizona State, he helped lead the team to the Big 12 Championship and a College Football Playoff berth in 2024. Leavitt has thrown for 4,513 yards, 34 touchdowns, and nine interceptions, while rushing for 743 yards on 183 carries and ten scores on the ground, resulting in a 16-4 record.
Who starts at QB?

Jeff Sims will take over as Arizona State’s starting quarterback, with Sam Leavitt out for the season. The six-year senior has completed 49% of his passes for 102 yards and one touchdown while rushing for 102 yards on 29 carries across five games and one start. Meanwhile, redshirt freshman Christian Hunt will serve as Sims’s backup.
