The Arizona State Sun Devils aim to build on last season’s strong performance as they contend for their second consecutive Big 12 Conference Championship title and a College Football Playoff berth. 2025 will be a little more challenging than 2024 because their elite do-everything running back, Cam Skattebo, departed to the next level. However, the good news is that their top quarterback, Sam Leavitt, returns for what might be his final year in college, along with his favorite target.
The Arizona State Sun Devils’ WR broke out in 2024

Jordyn Tyson was on his way to having a breakout redshirt sophomore season before an injury prematurely ended it. Tyson boasted career highs in receptions, yards, and touchdowns, hauling in 75 receptions for 1,101 yards and ten touchdowns in 12 games. His efforts earned him a Third-Team All-American and a First-Team All-Big 12 selection.
Unfortunately, Tyson suffered a broken collarbone in their regular-season finale against Arizona. As a result, he did not play in the Big 12 Championship Game against Iowa State and the Peach Bowl against Texas.
Arizona State Sun Devils’ gem named WR1 in 2026 NFL Draft

In a PFF article, Max Chadwick lists his way-too-early top 50 prospects for the 2026 NFL Draft. Chadwick lists Jordyn Tyson as the top wide receiver and the 14th overall prospect. He points to Tyson’s breakout redshirt sophomore campaign, and only Jeremiah Smith posted more receiving yards among active returning receivers last year.
“Tyson enjoyed a massive breakout year with the Sun Devils, tallying 1,098 yards as a redshirt sophomore. The only returning Power Four receiver who posted more was Smith,” Chadwick said.
“Something clicked for the Colorado transfer in the second half of the season. In Arizona State’s final six games of the regular season, Tyson led the nation with 729 receiving yards while his 4.03 yards per route run were second among Power Four ones.”
