Arizona Cardinals defensive tackle Walter Nolen III suffered a calf injury while working out during the offseason. As a result, the first-round pick missed the entirety of training camp, prompting the team to place him on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list at the roster cutdown deadline. Nolen has missed the first six games of the season and is eligible to return to the active roster.

Arizona Cardinals 1st-round pick set to return to practice

During Wednesday’s press conference, Jonathan Gannon told the media that the Cardinals designated Walter Nolen III for return, as first reported by Theo Mackie. The first-round pick has 21 days to practice with the team before being eligible to return to the active roster, or will revert to season-ending injured reserve. Nolen will return to practice this week in an exciting development, though this week’s practice will ultimately determine his fate for Week 7 against the Green Bay Packers.

Jonathan Gannon also shared that Darius Robinson will practice this week. The former first-round pick from last year’s draft suffered a pectoral injury in Week 4 against the Seattle Seahawks, which sidelined him for the previous two games. Similar to Nolen, this week of practice will determine whether Robinson plays against the Green Bay Packers.
