The Arizona Cardinals have had ten General Managers in franchise history. Arizona, formerly of Phoenix, St. Louis, and Chicago, have competed at the NFL level since 1922, yet only three GMs hold a winning record: Steve Keim, Joe Sullivan, and Ray Bennigsen. Since their move to Arizona in 1988, only Keim has posted more wins than losses. However, poor drafting and lackluster results at the end of his tenure led to Keim parting ways with the Cardinals in 2022.
Keim has since tried his hand at other football ventures, including starting a podcast and establishing a talent evaluation and recruiting agency called BrandBossLLC. On Thursday, Keim added to his diverse profile of football, joining Klutch Sports Group as their General Manager.
Ex-Arizona Cardinals GM Steve Keim Lands Klutch Sports Group Gig
According to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter:
Klutch Sports Group is hiring former Arizona Cardinals GM and two-time NFL Executive of the Year Steve Keim as its General Manager. It is believed to be the first time that an agency has hired a former NFL GM as its GM. Keim now will join Klutch’s teams of agents and help run the agency the way he once helped run a football team, with some of the same responsibilities.
Former Arizona Cardinals General Manager and NFL Executive of the Year Steve Keim will join Klutch Sports Group this fall with intentions of fulfilling many of the similar roles and responsibilities from his tenure with the NFC West club. Klutch Sports represents many of the top players in the NFL, including Jalen Hurts, Bijan Robinson, Myles Garrett, and DeVonta Smith. However, they are known for their clientele in the NBA, headlined by superstars LeBron James, Trae Young, and Draymond Green.
Keim served as the General Manager for the Arizona Cardinals from 2013 to 2022. Arizona won double-digit games in his first three seasons, including making the NFC Championship tilt in 2015. However, after two back-to-back subpar seasons, the Cardinals fell on hard times, going 16-31 from 2018 to 2020. The Cardinals went 4-13 in his final season. Keim was at the helm for the drafting of star quarterback Kyler Murray and tight end Trey McBride but also had a hand in the selections of Isaiah Simmons, Josh Rosen, and Robert Nkemdiche.
