The Arizona Cardinals want to make a major jump this upcoming season from their disappointing 2023 campaign. They will have their starting quarterback Kyler Murray back under center after missing most of last season with an injury, along with some new pieces they added in trades and the NFL draft. Unfortunately, one of the team’s key additions this offseason will be suspended for five games for violating the league’s personal conduct policy.
Arizona Cardinals Star Suspended
Cardinals star receiver Zay Jones has been suspended for the first five games of the 2024 season for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy. Jones was arrested in November last year and charged with domestic battery, but the charges were dropped this March after reviewing the evidence. The receiver signed a one-year, $2.25 million deal with Arizona this offseason.

The league decided to suspend Jones on Friday after it conducted its own investigation into the situation. This proved to be the case for Jones, who will now miss the first five games of the regular season.
Zay Jones Career
The veteran receiver has been on three teams throughout his career and has started in 67 games. Jones was with the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2022-2023, and amounted to 82 catches, and 823 receiving yards in his first season with the team, which is his career high in a season. However, the receiver took a step back in production last season, playing in just nine games which led to his release from the team.
With Jones set to miss the first part of the 2024 regular season, guys like rookie receiver Marvin Harrison Jr., Michael Wilson, and Greg Dortch will have to step up as the team’s receivers through the first five games of the year. Do you think the Cardinals will still have success without Jones, and will the veteran receiver be able to have a good season after missing some games?
