The Arizona Cardinals have a talented and reliable number-one wide receiver in Marvin Harrison Jr. However, the team currently lacks a clear-cut number two receiver as neither Michael Wilson nor Zay Jones, the leading candidates, have stood out in this race. To make matters worse, the Cardinals did not address the position during the 2025 NFL Draft and will likely have to settle for a veteran in free agency.

Keenan Allen is considered one of the best available wide receivers in free agency. Allen, the 33-year-old, 6-time Pro Bowler, enters his 13th year in the NFL. He spent 2024 with the Chicago Bears, finishing second on the team in receptions, targets, and yards and second in receiving touchdowns with 70 receptions on 121 targets for 744 yards and seven touchdowns in 15 games.
Although he is not the same player he once was, he is still an excellent route runner and a number-two/three option.
11,274-yard receiver is named a best fit by ESPN

In an ESPN article, Matt Bowen goes through the top available free agents and their best fits. Bowen names the Arizona Cardinals as the best fit for Keenan Allen. He mentions that although he isn’t the receiver he once was, he is a talented route runner and chain mover for Kyler Murray, and he would essentially be the number three option and a two-wide receiver.
“Allen isn’t as dynamic of a mover at this late stage of his career, but the 33-year-old showed with Chicago that he’s still a crafty route runner who can make himself available to the quarterback. In Arizona, Allen could carve out a role as a chain-moving option for Kyler Murray,” Bowen said.
“Trey McBride and Marvin Harrison Jr. are Murray’s top two targets, so Allen would compete with Zay Jones and Michael Wilson for reps. Despite a heel injury keeping him out of two games in 2024, Allen finished with at least 60 receptions for the eighth straight season.”
