“Are Fielding Trade Inquiries”: NFL Insider Reports Cleveland Browns And New York Giants Plans For The 2025 NFL Draft

The 2025 NFL Draft will begin on Thursday in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The Tennessee Titans, the Cleveland Browns, and New York Giants will have the first three picks in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Everyone expects the Titans to draft quarterback number one overall from the Miami Hurricanes. However, not a lot of people know what the Giants will do at number three and what the Browns will do at number two. Will either team take quarterback Shedeur Sanders from the Colorado Buffaloes or will both teams take the best player on the board instead? This will be one of the most unpredictable drafts in quite some time.

NFL Insider Reports the Plans For the Cleveland Browns and the New York Giants

NY Giants players talk to students during the Section 1 flag football clinic at Somers High School in Lincolndale, NY on Saturday, March 22, 2025.

Peter Schrager of ESPN went onto Get Up of ESPN on Tuesday morning to talk about the potential plans for the Browns second overall and the Giants third overall. Schrager said,

“The Cleveland Browns and New York Giants are fielding trade inquiries for their early picks in the NFL draft.”

ESPN also reported about the top of the draft,

“Although the Tennessee Titans are not entertaining offers for the first overall pick as of Tuesday morning, sources told Schrager that the Browns, who have the second pick, and the Giants, who pick third, have received trade calls over the past 48 hours — and that neither team is outwardly rejecting those overtures.

The expectation, sources told Schrager, is that those teams looking to trade up to the No. 2 or No. 3 pick are pursuing Colorado two-way star Travis Hunter, Penn State pass rusher Abdul Carter or Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty.

All 32 teams in the NFL still have their original first-round pick this year, which has seen a historic lack of trades in the lead-up to the draft. With Thursday’s first round just two days away, this is the closest to the start of a draft without any trades involving first-round picks in the common draft era (since 1967), according to ESPN Research.”

It will be interesting to see which NFL teams would be interested to trade up with Cleveland or New York in the 2025 NFL Draft. However, NFL Network’s James Palmer decided to retweet what Schrager mentioned:

I know a team in the top ten that is head over heels for Travis Hunter. They have been for a while. https://t.co/QiyrSeugYC

The interesting question is which team in the Top 10 is interested in trading up with the Browns or the Giants for Hunter? Would the New Orleans Saints at number nine or the Chicago Bears at number 10 make a move? What about the Las Vegas Raiders at six or the New York Jets at seven? It remains to be seen what Cleveland and New York. They will hold the cards for the rest of the first-round in this draft.

There seems to be a lot of smoke screens leading up to the 2025 NFL Draft. It would feel like a surprise to see the Browns and the Giants trade out of there picks with the talent that is available at the top of the board. However, Cleveland may draft Abdul Carter second overall and New York may draft Travis Hunter third overall in the 2025 NFL Draft and stay put.
