Arch Manning stats today: How did the Texas QB perform vs. #3 Ohio State Buckeyes?

Week 1 of the college football season saw the debut of Arch Manning as a full-time starting quarterback for the Texas Longhorns. There was a lot of hype surrounding the next heir to the Manning dynasty as he was on the road for the first time as a starting quarterback. Let’s take a deeper dive into the stats to discuss how Arch Manning looked in his toughest challenge yet.

Arch Manning knew he was entering his toughest position yet in his collegiate career, as this was not only his first career road start, but he was facing the reigning national champion Ohio State Buckeyes. There was very little offense from the Longhorns as a whole throughout the game, as coach Steve Sarkisian could not draw much up to overpower the Buckeyes’ defense.

Arch Manning struggled throughout the game as he completed 17 of 30 (56.7%) of his passes for 170 yards with a touchdown and an interception while also running 10 times for 38 yards. The preseason favorite to win the 2025 Heisman Trophy had his worst showing as people have already begun to get off the hype train for the potential first-overall pick in next year’s NFL draft.

It appeared that Ryan Day and defensive coordinator Matt Patricia were able to step up to create pressure to keep Arch Manning uncomfortable. It is also worth noting his mechanics looked a bit off at the beginning of the game and he was unable to get into a rhythm as Texas was 5 for 14 on third downs and 1 for 5 on fourth down.

Arch Manning and the team will have an easier game next week as they have their home opener against the San Jose State Spartans on Saturday.
