Rumors have circulated all week about Arch Manning‘s plan for the 2025 season.
The Texas Longhorns are preparing to play Clemson in the first round of the College Football Playoff on Dec. 21 at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium. With Texas busy with the CFP, junior quarterback Quinn Ewers has not announced his plans to enter the 2025 draft or return to college football next season.
Manning has been waiting to take over the Longhorns starting job. If Ewers, who has seen his draft stock tank during the season, returns to Texas in 2025, Manning could decide to transfer to another school to gain experience before he jumps to the league.
Quinn Ewers is expected to enter the 2025 draft
Anwar Richardson with Orangebloods.com dispelled that possibility with a report on Friday, as he claims Ewers plans to declare for the 2025 draft while Manning remains “locked” with Texas.
“Sources say Quinn Ewers still plans to declare for the NFL Draft after this season, paving the way for Arch Manning to take over in 2025,” Richardson wrote. “Manning is locked in with Texas and coach Steve Sarkisian, with no plans to transfer. Right now, both are dialed in on Clemson.”

Rumors came out on Arch Manning and Ewers
However, NFL Rookie Watch has put out a couple of posts on X that claim that Ewers could return to Texas and that the future NFL quarterback has a deal on the table with a team in the Big Ten.
“Quinn Ewers reportedly “has a deal on the table” from a team in the Big 10 for $4 million to transfer next season and forgo the NFL Draft,” NFL Rookie Watch wrote. “Ewers is reportedly debating on transferring and staying in college for another season or entering the draft. Several NFL scouts reportedly have Ewers ranked “outside” of their Top-4 QB’s in this year’s draft. The Longhorns QB is going to get the BAG with either decision he makes. Ohio State, Penn State, Oregon, USC, and many other possibilities could possibly be on the table for the Longhorns QB.”

College football fans speculate on Manning to UNC
With Ewers not making an official statement (though an NFL agent claimed Ewers’ team called NFL Rookie Watch’s rumor “fake news”), college football fans thought it would make sense for Manning to team up with new head coach Bill Belichick at North Carolina for the 2025 season.
“Arch Manning was designed to be a North Carolina Tar Heel. Let’s get it done Bill, we have all the money in the world to play with this off-season. QB1 has got to be the main priority this off season,” wrote a fan.
“Arch Manning is transfering to North Carolina next season . Mark my words,” wrote another.
“Arch Manning to UNC. Book it,” posted a fan.
“Belichick is going to pull Arch Manning in the transfer portal, isn’t he,” asked another.
“Arch Manning rumors have him transferring to UNC. He can learn from the best now,” posted a fan.
