Florida was getting blown out in Austin

The Longhorns came into the game ranked No.. 5 in the initial College Football Playoff rankings that were released on Tuesday. The Gators came into the matchup at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium Stadium with a 4-4 record. Gators head coach Billy Napier got a vote of confidence from athletic director Scott Stricklin earlier this week, but the team’s effort on the field didn’t back up the school’s statement.
The Longhorns rushed out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter after missing a field goal on their opening drive. Florida lost a fumble on their second drive of the game and missed a field goal in the second quarter. The Longhorns would pile on 21 points in the second quarter to take a convincing lead into halftime.
