The 2-4 New York Giants didn’t need more depressing news for the offense entering Week 6. The team’s playoff hopes are on a lifeline after their 17-7 loss Sunday night to the Cincinnati Bengals.
The New York Giants have a big game coming up
The Giants will try to turn around their season in Week 7 when they host the Philadelphia Eagles. With the Pittsburgh Steelers and Washington Commanders coming up after the Eagles, the Giants could be sellers by the trade deadline on Nov. 5.
The offensive woes were on full display against the Bengals when they managed to score only a touchdown against one of the league’s worst defenses. The Giants will likely be without one of their most important players on the unit for the rest of the season.
Andrew Thomas is expected to miss the rest of the season
Per Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the team is set to lose All-Pro left tackle Andrew Thomas. Per Paul Schwartz of the New York Post, the Giants believe Thomas has a Lisranc injury.
“Sources: Giants star LT Andrew Thomas is currently in Charlotte meeting with noted foot expert Dr. Robert Anderson, and his status for the season is now considered to be up in the air. Surgery to fix the issue, which is possible, would likely be season-ending,” Rapoport posted on X.
Per @NYPost_Schwartz, the fear is a Lisfranc injury for Andrew Thomas. A potentially troubling situation for the Giants. https://t.co/TpoCAMuC72

The Giants’ run blocking has been a problem
The Giants’ offensive line has already had plenty of problems with Thomas on the unit. The team is only averaging 3.9 yards per rush entering Week 7.
With Thomas likely headed to injured reserve, the Giants are expecting to turn to their 2022 third-round pick, Joshua Ezeudu. He’s appeared in 2022 NFL games and started in six.
