“It’s Tempting To Pick”: College Football Analyst Predicts Florida Gators Win Total For 2025 Season

The Florida Gators had an up and down 2024 college football season. There were times during the 2024 season when the fanbase wanted head coach Billy Napier fired.

Napier kept his job for another season and Florida is looking to be a dark horse in the SEC Conference and crash the college football playoffs party in 2025 after having a 7-5 record during the regular. The Gators 2025 season is going to ride a lot upon sophomore quarterback D.J. Lagway. During the 2024 season, he completed 59.9% of his passes for 1,915 yards, 12 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. Lagway also rushed for 101 yards on 50 carries and zero touchdowns, along with averaging 2.0 yards per carry.

CBS Sports Prediction For Florida Gators Over/Under Win Totals In 2025

CBS Sports writer Brandon Marcello made his over/under win total predictions for each SEC Conference team entering the 2025 college football season. He has the over/under win totals for the Gators at 6.5 for the 2025 season. Marcello said,

“It’s tempting to pick Florida as a potential threat to reach the CFP. The Gators have a dynamic quarterback in DJ Lagway and a solid defense, but the schedule is brutally difficult.

Trips to Miami, LSU, Texas A&M and Ole Miss will be major challenges. Florida also plays just two home games during an eight-game stretch after opening the season with back-to-back games in The Swamp. The game at Kentucky looks winnable, and we’ll side with the Gators to get revenge for last year in their early-season showdown at Miami. That projects to a record similar to last season but without a strong finish. Pick: Over 6.5 (-148)”

Marcello thinks that they will not beat teams like the Texas Longhorns, the LSU Tigers, or the Georgia Bulldogs next season, but he believes that Florida will win games against the Tennessee Volunteers and the Miami Hurricanes. Marcello believes that Florida will not make the playoffs next year, but they will be competitive.

It is going to be interesting to see if Florida is able to take the next step or not. If the Gators and Lagway take a leap next season, they could finish with a 9-3 record and fall just on the outside looking in of the postseason also.
