The Cleveland Browns have four quarterbacks on the roster to be competing for one starting spot, but in reality, there is a chance that they have zero quarterbacks on the roster to be the guy for the long haul. Cleveland drafted two quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL Draft, and they were Dillon Gabriel in the third round and Shedeur Sanders in the fifth round.

The other two quarterbacks on the Browns roster competing for the starting spot will be Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett. For now, one of the veterans have the edge over the rookies for the starting job. Deshaun Watson is not in the picture to be starting for Cleveland. Will any of these quarterbacks be the starter past the 2025 NFL season?
NFL Insider Thinks That the Cleveland Browns Franchise Quarterback May Not Be On the Roster

The 2025 NFL season could be an experimental season for the Browns at the quarterback position. Pro Football Talk analyst Mike Florio talked about the different quarterbacks across the league who are on the hot seat entering the 2025 season. Florio understands the position that Cleveland is in at the quarterback position and said,
“All Browns quarterbacks: With Jacksonville’s first-round pick in their back pocket, the Browns could be in position to get a future franchise quarterback in next year’s draft. That raises the stakes for every quarterback currently on the Cleveland roster. Because there’s a chance none of them will be the starter in 2026.”
There is a chance that the Browns will have two picks in the Top 10 in the 2026 NFL Draft. There is no doubt that the quarterbacks will be better in that class and that is probably why Cleveland did not draft one in the first round in 2025. Flacco and Pickett is not the long-term answer at quarterback. Sanders has not gotten first-team reps yet during offseason programs and he may not even make the 53-man roster.
Gabriel could be the only man on the roster that could be the Browns quarterback in 2026 because head coach Kevin Stefanski and general manager Andrew Berry appear to be more sold on him rather than Sanders. The 2025 NFL season will tell where the Browns quarterback situation is going to head into the 2026 NFL Draft. There is no doubt that Cleveland scouts will be at many college football games this fall.
