Under head coach Nick Saban, Alabama was known for its physical football players. The 73-year-old stepped away from the game last offseason, allowing new head coach Kalen DeBoer to take over.
In DeBoer’s first season in Tuscaloosa, the Crimson Tide finished with a 9-4 record, missing out on the college football playoffs. Alabama was close to making the first-ever 12-team playoffs, but a few errors in the Oklahoma and Vanderbilt games cost them a trip.
Physicality wasn’t the reason Alabama didn’t make the college football playoffs. The Crimson Tide was one of the country’s most physical teams, and former offensive linemen led the way.
Alabama’s Former Guard Has A Bold Take
Guard Tyler Booker is looking to be one of the first offensive linemen drafted this April, and on Satruday, he talked about the style of football he loves to play.
“It’s legal assault out there,” Booker stated. “I make guys not love football anymore.”

Booker made a handful of NFL teams fall in love with him just for that unbelievable quote. The former Crimson Tide star has been rumored to be an early second-round pick, but a good combine showing this week could have him move up into the first round.
Guard is the spot most NFL teams try to find later in the draft since many good guards can play later on, so that could cause Booker to slide a little down the draft board this spring.
