Last season, the Alabama football team survived a scare from the USF Bulls 17-3. The Alabama Crimson Tide used two different quarterbacks and five separate rushers but escaped with a home win and eventually earned a berth in the College Football Playoff. On Saturday, Alabama found themself in a similar position, nursing a 14-13 late in the third quarter with the Bulls deep in Crimson Tide territory. Alabama would eventually pull away in the final 15 minutes, winning by a final score of 42-16.
Unlike the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, who fell to the unranked Northern Illinois Huskies at home as more than four-touchdown favorites, Alabama football remains undefeated heading into next week. Nevertheless, some Alabama football fans are relieved the team will stay as a top-ten ranked squad, while others are suspect of the SEC power’s outlook for the rest of the season.
Alabama Football Fans Split on Weekend Performance
On Saturday, the Alabama Crimson Tide won against the USF Bulls, 42-16. However, the score does not indicate the struggles Alabama faced for the majority of the game, with AL.com reluctant to call Saturday’s game a slam-dunk victory:
There’s plenty to fix from the ugly performance for Kalen DeBoer and company.
The Alabama football program struggled to separate on their home turf for the first three-quarters of their contest against the South Florida Bulls, albeit being a near-five-touchdown favorite. The Bulls outpaced the Crimson Tide by 23 yards in the first half, while Alabama went 0-fer in third down conversions. The second quarter was much the same, with Alabama averaging a grotesque 3.47 yards per play. At the heart of the offensive woes was quarterback Jalen Milroe, going 5-of-10 for 51 yards and no scores. Additionally, Alabama did not have their first rush of over 20 yards until midway through the third quarter, courtest of a 25-yard scamper from Jamarion Miller.
Alabama eventually pulled away 42-16, but the final score does not indicate the issues the Crimson Tide faced for most of the contest. Many fans were content with the win, while many were reluctant to give first-year head coach Kalen DeBoer a pass for his team’s brutal performance:

This score is a lie.

I expect Cadyn Proctor back at LT against Wisconsin. Elijah Prichett at RT if he's healthy. And Tyler Booker back at guard.
I hope that solves a lot of our offensive issues from tonight.

This is NOT Alabama football.
