The Alabama football team took a hit last week, losing a former four-star recruit and change-of-pace offensive weapon to the transfer portal. However, their other star running back spoke to the media on Thursday, pledging his loyalty to the Alabama Crimson Tide for the 2025 season.
Lead running back Jam Miller, a fringe 700-yard rusher across 12 games this season, will return to Alabama football in 2025. An elite prospect in the 2022 class, Miller will also play in his team’s matchup against the Michigan Wolverines on New Year’s Eve. With the return of Miller, and potentially that of quarterback Jalen Milroe, fans sit excited for year two under head coach Kalen DeBoer.
Alabama Football RB Sparks Craze From Fans
According to Katie Windham of @BamaCentral:
Alabama RB Jam Miller says he’s staying with the Tide another year.
“I’m not leaving this school at all.”
On Thursday, starting running back Jam Miller expressed his intentions to return to Alabama football next year. A four-star recruit in the class of 2022, Miller was a consensus top-ten running back prospect on most major recruiting sites. He picked Alabama over Texas, Florida, Texas A&M, Florida State, Iowa State, LSU, Nebraska, Ole Miss, TCU, USC, and Washington State, among others. This season, his second with the Alabama Crimson Tide, Miller rushed for 641 yards and seven touchdowns on 135 attempts. Only quarterback Jalen Milroe surpassed Miller in those categories. From 2022 to 2023, Miller collected 424 rushing yards and 72 receiving yards on 6.4 yards per touch.
Miller’s return comes on the heels of fellow rusher Justice Haynes entering the transfer portal. Haynes ran for 448 yards compared to Miller’s 641 yards in 2024 but averaged 5.7 yards per attempt compared to 4.7 yards per rush. With Miller opting to return and play for Alabama football in 2025, fans are excited about the potential for a College Football Playoff run next year:
DeBoer needs to make sure Jam averages AT LEAST 15 carries a game.
