It’s been an up-and-down season for Alabama football this year. In head coach Kalen DeBoer’s inaugural season, Alabama suffered their first loss against the Vanderbilt Commodores since 1984 while suffering two losses before November for the time since 2007. However, they beat rival Georgia and skunked a ranked Missouri Tigers team last weekend 34-0. Next Saturday, DeBoer and the Alabama Crimson Tide will get another crack at a rival SEC team, visiting the two-loss LSU in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
The sportsbooks believe next weekend’s tilt will become a tightly contested, high-scoring affair in a battle of two fringe top-ten teams with College Football Playoff aspirations. Nevertheless, FanDuel Sportsbook has Alabama football as a short 2.5-point favorite despite traveling to a hostile Tiger Stadium for an evening kickoff. Bama fans are split on the opening spread, with some believing LSU should be favored while others have the Crimson Tide competing out of their bye week.
Alabama Fans Divided On Being Favorites Against LSU

According to On3 on Twitter:
NEW: Alabama opens as a 2.5-point favorite on the road at LSU next Saturday, per @FDSportsbook
Who you got?
Next weekend, the SEC will have two games featuring a battle between ranked teams. Top-ranked Georgia will visit Ole Miss in the afternoon slate, while the evening standalone game will be a rivalry matchup against Alabama football and the LSU Tigers. The Alabama Crimson Tide will be 2.5-point favorites despite traveling to Death Valley. Each team will enjoy a bye week heading into the highly anticipated contest.
Known as the “First Saturday in November” and the “Saban Bowl,” Alabama leads the all-time series 56-27-5. The Crimson Tide have won three of the last five games. More importantly, Alabama football is 4-1 in their previous five trips to Death Valley. Yet, with Alabama’s struggles this season and the departure of longtime head coach Nick Saban, fans are split on whether the historic program can pull off the upset on the road against rival LSU:
I got Bama bc that’s my squad but I’m nervous as hell I’m not even gonna lie

Makes sense, bama has owned LSU in Death Valley the last 17 years.

Why??? I don’t get it. Vegas and the FPI this year absolutely love Bama. I mean, don’t give me wrong I love them too, and I’m glad they think highly of them, but you can’t base everything off of talent on the roster at some point performance on the field has to matter.

Still hasn’t set in that Bama is rolling in with Kalen DeBoer leading the charge. It’s still like “BAMA” but it’s really just… bama
— Kenny (@GBO____3) November 1, 2024
Bama after a bye week is scary. If we didn’t have a bye… I’d probably take LSU but I’ll take Alabama to win by 7
— Ryan Williams burner (@RyansBurner2) November 1, 2024
Why Alabama still being favored in every single game?

Roll tide roll
