The Alabama football program has had a tough past few weeks. Late last month, the Alabama Crimson Tide lost in the ReliaQuest Bowl against the Michigan Wolverines despite closing as a massive 16.5-point favorite. Alabama also yielded numerous players to the transfer portal, headlined by offensive weapons Kendrick Law and Justice Haynes. On Monday, the Crimson Tide took another big hit, losing the commitment from 2025 five-star offensive tackle recruit Ty Haywood.
A six-foot-five, 285-pound offensive tackle from Denton, Texas, Haywood opted to reopen his recruiting while holding offers from Michigan, Florida State, Oklahoma, Miami, LSU, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Tennessee, and SMU, among others. With Alabama fresh off a brutal bowl loss and their worst season in over a decade, fans quickly bashed head coach Kalen DeBoer amid the decommitment of one of the best prospects in the 2025 class.

BREAKING: 5-star OT Ty Haywood has decommitted from Alabama.
On Monday, Alabama football lost the future services of five-star offensive tackle recruit Ty Haywood. According to 247Sports, Haywood is the fourth-ranked offensive tackle prospect in the 2025 class. Haywood committed to Alabama football last July. According to 247Sports’ Gabe Brooks, Haywood has a build and play style similar to that of Dallas Cowboys lineman Tyler Smith. He is also highly regarded as a high school shot put athlete.
Haywood’s decommitment has college fans criticizing Alabama football, especially since the team’s first season under new head coach Kalen DeBoer ended without a College Football Playoff berth or a bowl victory. Following Haywood’s decision to distance himself from the SEC power, many fans flooded social media to bash the Crimson Tide over their latest shortcoming.
