The Alabama football program has housed some of the best wide receiver talent in recent memory, including Heisman Trophy winner DeVonta Smith, first-round picks Julio Jones, Jameson Williams, Calvin Ridley, and Amari Cooper, and last year’s 80th overall pick Jermaine Burton. However, not every highly touted wide receiver recruit that lands in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, succeeds in the crimson, gray, and white. In particular, former four-star wideout Agiye Hall never found his footing with the Crimson Tide, and as of Monday, this is also the case at his newest school, Central Florida.
According to 247Sports’ Stephen Leonard, Hall did not report to the UCF football program this offseason. He intended to join the Knights as a walk-on, but Monday’s news could end his rollercoaster college career.
Former Alabama WR Agiye Hall: Absent From UCF Knights 2024 Roster
The UCF Knights had the potential to add an elite wideout option in 2024 in the form of former Alabama football budding star Agiye Hall. Instead, after sharing intentions to walk on at the Big 12 school, Hall ultimately did not join the team, per Stephen Leonard of 247Sports.

Hall, the seventh-ranked wide receiver in the 2021 class per 247Sports, landed with Alabama football after holding offers from Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Michigan, and Ohio State, among others. As a true freshman, Hall caught two passes for 52 yards in the College Football Playoff finale against Georgia. Hall abandoned Alabama the following season, joining head coach Steve Sarkisian with the Texas Longhorns. Sarkisian suspended Hall indefinitely in early August after Hall was arrested for criminal mischief charges. Hall finished the season with just one catch for 17 yards across three games.
Alabama Football: Fellow Class of 2021 Wide Receivers
Alongside Agiye Hall, the Alabama football program inked two other receivers in the class of 2021. Christian Leary and JoJo Earle joined Hall among the receiver recruits that season. Leary spent two seasons with the Crimson Tide, catching three passes for ten yards and a touchdown before transferring to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in 2023. He caught 25 passes for 309 yards and two touchdowns in his inaugural season with the ACC program. Meanwhile, Earle followed a similar path as Leary, snagging 24 passes for 303 yards and two touchdowns across two seasons with Alabama before leaving for TCU.
Although the 2021 recruiting class provided little production regarding receiver, Alabama landed transfer Jameson Williams that same offseason. The Ohio State transfer posted an unreal 79-catch, 1,572-yard season in his lone season with Alabama. A first-round pick in the subsequent NFL draft, Williams also caught 15 touchdowns, the third most in the NCAA that season.
