The Alabama Crimson Tide looks to boast one of the top defenses in the nation in Kane Wommack’s second season as defensive coordinator. It will be more challenging having lost two of their four starting defensive linemen to the next level. The Denver Broncos drafted EDGE rusher Que Robinson in the fourth round, and the Indianapolis Colts selected defensive tackle Tim Smith in the sixth round.
The Crimson Tide must count on a senior to carry the workload.

Alabama Crimson Tide’s emergent defender among top players in the SEC by The Athletic

In an Athletic article, Manny Navarro lists the top 25 players in the SEC heading into the 2025 season. He named LT Overton as the fourth-best EDGE rusher/defensive lineman behind Colin Simmons, Keldric Faulk, and Dylan Stewart and the 11th-best player overall. Navarro points to Overton’s 6-foot-5, 283-pound build and expects him to be one of the top players in college football.
“The 6-5, 283-pound former five-star recruit from Milton, Ga., led Alabama with nine quarterback hurries after transferring from Texas A&M last season. Overton started only four games but tallied 42 tackles, including three for loss and two sacks. He should be one of the top players in the league this season as he transitions into a full-time starting role,” Navarro said.
