Alabama Crimson Tide: Fans Stunned About Being Ranked #1 In the AP Poll After Beating Archrivals

On Saturday night, the Alabama Crimson Tide were the fourth-ranked team in the country and the Georgia Bulldogs were the second-ranked team. Alabama at one point had a 28-0 lead over Georgia, but the Crimson Tide blew the lead and trailed 34-33.

The game-winning 75-yard touchdown reception by Ryan Williams with 2:18 remaining in the game helped the Crimson Tide over the Bulldogs 41-34 in the game of the year so far in college football. It also helped that the Crimson Tide picked off Carson Beck in the end zone late in the game. Alabama beats Georgia once after they beat them in the SEC Championship Game a season ago.

It seemed a surprise to see the Alabama Crimson Tide as the number one team in the country entering the month of October in the college football world. Alabama was no stranger to being ranked there with Nick Saban as head coach. Kalen DeBoer gets there in just a month or so with the Crimson Tide. Here is what some fans said:

This will not be the last time this season that the Alabama Crimson Tide will be at the top of the AP Poll. It seemed like a surprise when they leapfrogged the Texas Longhorns, who were ranked number one in the AP Poll last week.

Alabama Faces the Tennessee Volunteers On October 19

There is a chance that the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Tennessee Volunteers are both undefeated by the time they play each other in Knoxville, Tennessee on Saturday, October 19. Tennessee did not play on Saturday, but they moved up from the fifth spot to the fourth spot in the AP Poll.

If they are both undefeated by the time that game rolls around, it could be another instant classic like what Georgia and Alabama delivered this past Saturday night. Being ranked number one this year despite a new sheriff in town, feels like a little bit of a surprise for right now.
