One of the biggest stories of college football this season is the Alabama Crimson Tide losing to the Vanderbilt Commodores 40-35 this past Saturday. With the loss, Alabama dropped from number one in the country to number seven in the country.
The Crimson Tide’s defense does not look like the same defense it once was. It didn’t even look like its old self before Nick Saban retired and when Kalen DeBoer took over. This team could be very similar to when Lincoln Riley coached the Oklahoma Sooners in the BIG12 Conference.
Joel Klatt Compares the Alabama Crimson Tide To the Oklahoma Sooners Past Teams Under Lincoln Riley
Joel Klatt went onto the NextRoundLive on Monday and mentioned the Alabama Crimson Tide upset against the Vanderbilt Commodores over the weekend. Klatt made a very interesting statement and said:
“This Bama team is just another version of the Lincoln Riley OU teams… Alabama, right now, is just a Big 12 team from 2017. Bama is gonna have to score 45 PPG in conference to win the rest of their games.”
This is a very interesting comparison because the Sooners were so talented on offense and they were very bad on defense. The Alabama Crimson Tide is built the same way. They needed to score 41 points just to beat the Georgia Bulldogs two weeks ago and gave up 34 points in that game.

SEC is condensing. No more 2 great teams and everyone else plays for scraps. Good luck picking at large playoff teams from the SEC this yr. Will be messy

The Alabama Crimson Tide will face the South Carolina Gamecocks this weekend at home. In the following week, Alabama will face the Tennessee Volunteers on the road in a game that will have massive college football playoff implications.
