The Alabama Crimson Tide are trying to shake off the loss on the road last weekend against the Vanderbilt Commodores when they face the South Carolina Gamecocks this weekend. Not only did Alabama get upset last week, but the Tennessee Volunteers also lost on the road to the Arkansas Razorbacks on the road as well.
Tennessee will look to bounce back this weekend against the Florida Gators. After this weekend, the Alabama Crimson Tide will go on the road and face the Tennessee Volunteers the following week.
Alabama Crimson Tide Are -2.5-Point Favorites Against the Tennessee Volunteers
According to FanDuel Sportsbook, the Crimson Tide open up as -2.5 favorites on the road against the Volunteers on Saturday, October 19. The kickoff scheduled for this game will be at 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC. The other marquee SEC matchup on the same day will be the Texas Longhorns and the Georgia Bulldogs with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
There was a chance that Alabama and Tennessee would be undefeated before the matchup next weekend, but both teams slipped up beforehand. It will be interesting to see how both teams respond this weekend before the big-time matchup.
Fans Are Scratching Their Heads
There is no doubt that Crimson Tide fans and Volunteers fans are scratching their heads over the spread for this matchup. Here is what fans had to say about it on Twitter:
Could be too early
But think Tennessee wins this one
Like the Volunteers defense better and Alabama is navigating a rough spell that is hard to correct mid-season pic.twitter.com/wE48hcaC7k

Let me see how Tennessee bounce back against Florida tomorrow night before I weigh in

If they play like they did against Arkansas they might drop another game against Florida

Why is it always 2.5 why not just round it up to 3?

Not sure how you make Bama the favorite after they just lost to Vandy. But what do I know

A lot can change between now and the game next weekend. The Crimson Tide feels like the better team than the Volunteers. However, Alabama facing Tennessee will be a wild matchup next weekend.
