The New England Patriots have a 6-2 record this season and they currently lead the AFC East division. One of the biggest reasons why New England has elevated its game is because of quarterback Drake Maye.

He has taken a major jump in his second NFL season. Is there a chance that the Patriots could potentially make a trade for a wide receiver before the NFL trade deadline passes? One name that could maybe be on the move is Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown.
PFF Creates Mock Trade That Involves the New England Patriots and A.J. Brown

Pro Football Focus writer Bradley Locker created a mock trade between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Patriots involving the star wide receiver Brown. Locker said about this fairy tale trade that would send Brown to New England and reunite with his former coach Mike Vrabel,
“Brown’s 2025 season has been a bizarre one to say the least. One of the league’s most formidable skill-position players hasn’t been quite that so far, producing a 77.2 PFF receiving grade with only 1.70 yards per route run. His efficiency has trended upward over the last few weeks, but disgruntled social media posts have followed after questionable usage in the season’s initial weeks.
Adding Brown to the Patriots could legitimately put New England’s burgeoning offense over the edge. The Patriots already rank fifth in team PFF receiving grade this season thanks to the addition of Stefon Diggs (79.1 PFF receiving grade) and elevated play from Kayshon Boutte (78.3). Still, adding a true WR1 in Brown could form one of the league’s better quarterback-receiver pairings with how well Drake Maye has fared in his sophomore season.
Would the division-leading Eagles really distribute their top wideout? Almost definitely not, even if the pulse around the situation doesn’t feel perfectly normal. Still, this is a fun transaction for New England fans to dream of.”
Brown did not play on Sunday in Philadelphia’s 38-20 win over the New York Giants because of a hamstring injury. The Eagles have a 6-2 record this season. In seven games played for Philadelphia this season, he has caught 29 passes for 395 yards and three touchdowns, along with averaging 13.6 yards per carry. Brown has also been targeted 51 times.
Brown still has four years remaining on his contract with the Eagles. His contract is untradable right now. A team like the Patriots may also not want to trade for him as well.
