CJ Stroud is one of the top quarterback prospects in the upcoming NFL draft. Until recently, he was a consensus top-three pick with many having him going number one overall to the Carolina Panthers. Now, some are speculating whether Stroud even gets picked by the first three teams on the clock. ESPN insider Adam Schefter reported today that there is a “real chance” CJ Stroud falls in the NFL draft.
There is reportedly “growing thought” around the league that CJ Stroud will not be selected within the Top-3 picks.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter noted that he believes there’s a “real chance” Stroud is available for the Colts at fourth overall.

CJ Stroud Falls In The NFL Draft?
The last 24 hours have seen a lot of moving parts that have affected Stroud. The Panthers are acting like they are going to take Bryce Young out of Alabama. This has led many to speculate whether the Texans would skip on a quarterback and wait until next year’s class. If that happens, the third overall pick becomes even more valuable as only one quarterback would be off the board. If Stroud does fall, he could be available for the Colts at four and they would not even have to trade up in order to get him. The real question is this. How much of this is real?
Pre-Draft Smoke Screens
There are a lot of games that get played during the pre-NFL draft time period. The Panthers simply could be acting like they are going to take Young to try and get the Texans the trade with them. In turn, the Texans are acting like they don’t even need to take a quarterback. It could be a game of cat and mouse that the two teams are playing. The Texans could also be trying to see if another team makes them an offer they cannot refuse to try and move up to the second pick. There is so much information coming out and it is hard to decipher what is real and what is simply trying to throw other teams off the scent.
If Stroud, and frankly the other quarterback prospects as well, fall in the NFL draft, this could be one of the crazier nights we’ve seen in recent years. This is shaping up to be a draft that is dripping with intrigue and should not be missed.
