The NFL offseason drama continues, but when rookies hit the headlines, everyone gets involved. Recently, Abdul Carter has been in the headlines for his bold demand. Carter just entered the NFL and is eagerly waiting to play with the New York Giants. The defensive end was selected at No. 3 out of the Penn State Nittany Lions.
Carter is yet to play a game with the Giants, and he already has bold demands that are not appreciated by many. Carter wanted to wear No. 56 the moment he stepped onto the field. Former Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor wore the number, and it seemed odd for Abdul Carter to make such a bold request.
Right enough, plenty of backlash followed and Colin Cowher ensured to give it back. Cowherd said that his demands were ridiculous. He further compared Carter’s request with Derek Jeter’s number with the New York Yankees.
“That is so ridiculous. That is like going to the Yankees and saying, ‘Can I wear No. 2?’ You don’t ask for Lawrence Taylor’s jersey. How about you learn to carry a veteran’s bag before you ask for his jersey?” Colin Cowherd said.
“This screams of entitlement. It screams for a lack of self-awareness. Those jerseys are retired,” Cowherd continued.

Giants Defensive Lineman Kayvon Thibodeaux Shares A Piece Of His Mind With Abdul Carter
Abdul Carter’s request is certainly ridiculous, and it’s unfair to bring back a retired number. It turns out that the rookie also wanted to bring back Phil Simms’ No.1. Carter received huge backlash from many, but the Giants’ defensive lineman Kayvon Thibodeaux shared a piece of advice.

Thibodeaux told Carter how to handle the pressure and deal with his first year in the league.
“I would say keep going, man. Let it be fuel to your fire. Don’t get distracted by it. I think this is just the start. There’s a lot of ups and downs in this league,” Thibodeaux said.

Many NFL players and enthusiasts encouraged Abdul Carter to get another number and make it famous. Asking for a retired number even before playing was indeed ridiculous. Carter has already brought pressure on him even before getting onto the field.
The rookie must perform, or he will be called out for his bold demands in the future. He needs to prove his worth and carve a name for himself before making weird requests.
