Social media pushed dramatic explanations, but the real situation centered on simple team rules and accountability.

Truth behind Abdul Carter’s first quarter absence

The widely circulated claim that Carter was benched for watching inappropriate content during a team meeting is completely false. The rumor originated from a parody account on X run by a user named Wesley Steinberg.

This account has a known history of posting fake sports news and fabricated insider information designed to trick readers.

The real reason for Carter’s benching was far less dramatic but equally serious for the organization. Sources indicate the rookie violated team rules by being late or missing part of a required team responsibility.

This marks the second disciplinary action against Carter in just three games, suggesting a pattern of punctuality issues that concerned the coaching staff.

Interim head coach Mike Kafka described the benching as “my decision” and declined to elaborate on the specifics, stating that he would keep the matter in-house.

Carter himself commented, “S**t happens… I have to be better. I have to take pride in what I do, be where I have to be at”.

He specifically mentioned the importance of being where he needs to be when he needs to be there, a direct reference to the attendance issues that led to his punishment.

The benching had immediate consequences on the field. The Giants struggled defensively in the first quarter, without their promising rookie, and fell behind 17-0 to the Patriots.

Once Carter entered the game in the second quarter, his impact was immediate and positive.

He recorded his first career solo sack against Patriots quarterback Drake Maye, showing exactly why the team values his presence on the field.

This incident serves as a valuable learning experience for the young defender, highlighting the importance of professionalism and meeting organizational expectations, regardless of talent level.
