Aaron Rodgers has shown that he is taking his time when it comes to choosing his home for (at least) the 2025 NFL season. He has shown interest in the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Minnesota Vikings this off-season, however, the Steelers are the only team he has met with.
As it turns out, there is an entirely new team entering the Rodgers sweepstakes.

Due to a new injury concern, a new AFC South team has become a prime option for the four-time MVP quarterback:
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Saints starting quarterback Derek Carr is dealing with a shoulder injury and there is a chance that he could miss the entire season. Carr is weighing his options, including having surgery on his shoulder.
The Saints have Spencer Rattler, Jake Haener, and Ben DiNucci behind Carr but they may look elsewhere for a starting quarterback next season if Carr can’t play.
One option could be Aaron Rodgers, who is currently a free agent. ProFootballTalk’s Mike Florio has speculated that fans should expect to see a report that the Saints have reached out to Rodgers to gauge his interest.

“Expect to see a report, sooner than later, that the Saints have reached out. Whether it goes anywhere remains to be seen,” Florio writes, via ProFootballTalk.
Rodgers makes sense as a stopgap option since he may only play in the NFL for one more season. He is still unsure if he wants to play in 2025 but has an offer on the table from the Pittsburgh Steelers.
He visited the Steelers in March but is taking his time before deciding.
If the Saints don’t go after Rodgers, they could try to draft Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders if he slides to the ninth pick. If he doesn’t get drafted in the top five, there’s a real chance he will slide to the ninth pick, making things super fascinating in the 2025 NFL Draft.
The Saints missed the playoffs for a fourth consecutive season in 2024, finishing with a 5-12 record. New head coach Kellen Moore will try and end that streak once the 2025 season starts in September.
