Veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers is eager to play for as long as possible, and the Pittsburgh Steelers have given him another opportunity. Rodgers and the Steelers agreed to a $13.7 million one-year deal. With a veteran like Rodgers on the team, Mason Rudolph’s position has raised questions.

Apart from Rudolph, Skylar Thompson and rookie Will Howard are also questionable. Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin was one of many who were pondering the team’s 2025 quarterback. However, he seems to have put his questions at rest after revealing the team’s quarterback for the upcoming season.

Tomlin addressed the press after the team’s first day of minicamp, saying that Aaron Rodgers will be the team’s starter for the upcoming season.

“I mean, read his resume. We’re excited about him being here. He’s excited to be here. But we’ll make no bold predictions; we’ll just roll our sleeves up and work,” Tomlin said.

Rodgers’s contract includes a $10 million guarantee and $5.85 million in incentives. Steelers fans are thrilled to see what their new quarterback has to offer.

Aaron Rodgers Says Joining The Steelers Was His Best Decision

On Tuesday, Aaron Rodgers attended the mandatory minicamp with the Steelers. The QB spoke to reporters after the game and shed light on the his decision to join the Steelers.

“A lot of decisions that I’ve made over my career and life, from strictly the ego, even if they turn out well, are always unfulfilling. But the decisions made from the soul are usually pretty fulfilling. So this was a decision that was best for my soul,” Aaron Rodgers said.

He further mentioned that Mike Tomlin’s success was one of the major reasons he joined the team.

“It starts with Mike Tomlin. I’ve been a fan of his for a long time. There’s a few iconic franchises in the NFL. I played for one of ‘em for 18 years. This is another one of those. There’s something special about obviously this area. So many great quarterbacks are from Pittsburgh. I feel like Pittsburgh has been a part of my career from the beginning,” Rodgers continued.

Rodgers is at the tail-end of his career and not many QB’s go the long way like Tom Brady. The Steelers will need the best out of Rodgers, especially since they have high expectations. The upcoming season will be an opportunity for Rodgers to showcase his skills and probably land a contract extension.
