The New York Jets season is sunk after a 28-27 loss at MetLife Stadium on Sunday. Questionable decisions by the coaching and poor play in the fourth quarter doomed the Jets to a 3-8 record after Week 11. The playoff chase is over the team, and the infighting appears ready to set in on a team that had Super Bowl aspirations with a healthy Aaron Rodgers in his second year in New York.
Following Sunday’s loss, interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich gave an answer on Rodgers’ health impacting his play for the Jets this season. Rodgers is dealing with a hamstring issue. Per SNY Jets, Ulbrich said he wished his veteran quarterback was playing better.
“I know Aaron would love to be playing better, but it’s not just him – it’s all of us,” Ulbrich said.

The interim coach’s answer sounded like a frustrated leader making excuses, as the Jets have won one game under the defensive coordinator since Robert Saleh was fired after Week 5.
Rodgers didn’t play too poorly against the Colts. He went 22-of-29 for 184 yards and two touchdowns. However, a fumble on the first play of the final drive of the game hurt the Jets’ chances of getting into field goal range.
Rodgers clearly thinks Ulbrich could be coaching better.

Rodgers called out the coaching staff for not doing for two when they scored a touchdown in the third quarter to go up 24-16. The four-time MVP wanted to make it a two-score game with a two-point conversion.
“The reason I was thinking is because we had a conversation on the sideline and I was under the impression the decision was before the drive, we were going to go for two,” Rodgers said.

The New York Jets made questionable decisions
The Super Bowl-winning quarterback wasn’t happy with the Jets kicking a 35-yard field goal with 2:41 left in the fourth quarter. Rodgers wanted to convert a fourth-down and two in a bid to score a touchdown on the drive. He felt like the Jets needed to score 30 points to win the game.
“Yeah, but I mean Brich felt good about it… but yeah, of course,” Rodgers said. “I felt like we needed to get to 30. If we were a great team we would have scored 7 there.”

Ulbrich second-guessed himself during the postgame. He thought on the sideline that the Jets’ defense could make a stop to win the game.
But in hindsight, New York traded for Rodgers to put the ball in his hands to win games.
The winning percentage for the trade isn’t high, and a divorce is looming for Rodgers and Ulbrich from the Jets.
