Aaron Rodgers might not play for any team in the 2025 NFL season and simply retire from the sport according to renowned sports writer Ian Rapoport. In a recent appearance on ‘The Pat McAfee Show’, Rapoport stated that he is not actually sure if Rodgers might continue to play the game after the veteran quarterback has not announced his commitment to any team for the upcoming season.
It is not only that Rodgers has not expressed his interest for any particular team, but it also is true the other way. Apart from the Pittsburgh Steelers, no other team in the league has particularly shown much interest in bringing the 42-year-old quarterback on board after he was let go by the New York Jets after a subpar 2024 NFL season.
“I would say the Vikings are as out as they could be right now on Aaron Rodgers.. I’d be very surprised if he waited until after the draft.. I’d be very surprised if it wasn’t the Steelers but I haven’t been able to nail down if he’s for sure playing.” Ian Rapoport said about Aaron Rodgers on ‘The Pat McAfee Show’ on Monday.

The Pittsburgh Steelers were surely eager to bring Aaron Rodgers to their squad, which sure needs some help in terms of offense. However, it looks like it is too late for Rodgers to make the team, with Pittsburgh going quarterback-shopping in the NFL draft next month.

Aaron Rodgers’ Ball-Patting Example Used To Defend Shedeur Sanders
On another note, Aaron Rodgers’s habit of patting the ball before throwing it was recently used by former NFL player Chris Simms to defend Shedeur Sanders. Sanders has been criticized by numerous analysts and even football fans for patting the ball before throwing it. According to his critics, Sanders’s habit of patting the ball gives the opponent team leverage since they can use it as a ‘tell’.

However, there are still several analysts who have defended this habit of Sanders, saying that it is harmless and has also been used by many other successful quarterbacks. Chris Simms used Aaron Rodgers as an example to defend Shedeur Sanders on ‘Pro Football Talk’ on Monday. Simms also brought up Dan Marino’s example.

Simms wonderfully explained that the habit of tapping the ball is more than just a mere habit and that it helps the body build up a better torque for quicker release, something that Rodgers is known for.
