Aaron Rodgers has been taking his time in making a decision for his next NFL home. Reports have indicated that the Minnesota Vikings were his first option, however, when that fell through, he traveled to Pittsburgh and sat down with Mike Tomlin and company for over six hours.
However, ESPN’s Adam Schefter leaked a report that could change everything.

Despite the Pittsburgh Steelers’ wait for Aaron Rodgers’ decision, there’s now a possibility that he won’t even play in 2025:
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Thursday’s episode of Get Up that some around the NFL feel that Rodgers is weighing the possibility of taking the next season off, while others suggested that he’s eyeing the Minnesota Vikings despite visiting with the Steelers last Friday.
“He met with their coaches, the two sides talked about what it would be like to work together, but there still was no answer about what Aaron Rodgers wants to do,” Schefter said at the 2:30 mark.
“There are people who believe that he may not play this year. There are people who believe he’s waiting to see if something might open down the line in Minnesota with the Vikings, but nobody knows for sure what Aaron Rodgers’ game plan is, and for the time being, the Steelers are in the dark.”

Vikings general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah addressed the team’s pursuit of Rodgers while speaking to reporters on Wednesday, saying that it was made clear to the 41-year-old that he could be in a backup role to 2024 No. 10 pick J.J. McCarthy if he’s recovered from the torn meniscus that cost him his entire rookie season.
“I think we got to a place where we just said, everybody was transparent, but right now we feel good about where we’re going, and that’s really how it ended,” Adofo-Mensah said of the Vikings’ talks with Rodgers. “It’s ultimately up to him, it’s hard to talk about a player who’s not under contract for our team and who isn’t a member of this team. It’s ultimately up to him what he decides to do with his future, but that’s kind of where we left it.”
It seems as though Pittsburgh on the other hand have put all their faith into Rodgers signing with the team or drafting a quarterback early in the 2025 NFL Draft.
