Michigan is coming off of one of the best seasons in school history, finishing 15-0 and winning the National Championship. The best player on maybe the entire team last year is coming back to school for his junior season in 2024 and could put himself in the conversation for the number one pick in next year’s NFL Draft.
Michigan’s Will Johnson Is The Best Player In The Country
Michigan star cornerback Will Johnson is the best defensive player in college football, and there is a chance he will be the best overall player in the country. A lot of talk has been about Colordos’s star wide receiver/cornerback, Travis Hunter, being the best player in the country, and there is no doubt that he is a star. Still, at the end of the day, Johnson is a better player, and one NFL Draft analyst thinks he could go number one next year.
Johnson Goes Number One Overall To The Carolina Panthers
In a 2025 NFL Mock Draft from the USA Today’s Curt Popejoy, he has Carolina picking first overall and taking Will Johnson.
There is nothing wrong with Johnson going number one overall, but he probably won’t go to Carolina in that spot. There is a great chance the Panthers will have the first pick in the draft. Still, they most likely will take a quarterback because if they are back in the same spot as last year, that probably means current quarterback Bryce Young struggled again, and they will be able to move off him and find their new star at that position in 2025.
Even if Johnson doesn’t go first overall, he will most likely be a Top Five non-quarterback taken, and whichever NFL team selects him will be getting a star.
