The Purdue Boilermakers lost its rivalry game against the Indiana Hoosiers on Saturday night on the road by a final score of 66-0. Purdue finished its college football season 1-11 and it looks as if they will be making massive changes before the 2025 season.
Ryan Walters earlier this season fired offensive coordinator Graham Harrell. Walters just finished his second season with the Boilermakers.
Purdue Boilermakers Fire Head Coach Ryan Walters After Just Two Seasons
On Sunday, the Boilermakers decided to fire its head coach after just two seasons with the program. It did not go as planned with him and this was a pivotal time for them to make a move. Purdue needs to get its next head coach right because their rivals, the Indiana Hoosiers, are not going anywhere with Curt Cignetti as head coach and they will be around for a long time.
It will be interesting to see who the Boilermakers will get to replace Walters as head coach. They should think long and hard about this decision.
Fans React To Firing
Dude came in and completely destroyed a program on the rise. I do NOT thank Ryan Walters for his time. A disgraceful hire.

I hear Ryan Day might be available if you don’t mind losing to Michigan.

Should have been done at the end of last season…. Or any point this season. The fact they let it get this bad and go this long has crushed our recruiting and retention for next season.

Please, no outside consultants! And if there’s a committee—former Boilermaker footballers only. #BoilerUp

JaMarcus Shephard should be on the shortlist of interviews

It would be interesting to see if the Boilermakers program waited to see if the Ohio State Buckeyes fired Ryan Day as head coach once the Buckeyes season ends. Day could pursue other options elsewhere. Purdue needs to get its next head coach hire right.
