Five-star wide receiver recruit Dakorien Moore plans to announce his commitment on the evening of July 4th.
Regardless of the scheduled announcement, ESPN insider Pete Thamel claimed Moore announced his commitment to the Oregon Ducks and head coach Dan Lanning. Moore himself took to social media to dispute the claim that Thamel had any knowledge of his forthcoming commitment.
5-star recruit Dakorien Moore took to social media to take a shot at ESPN insider Pete Thamel

After Thamel claimed Moore would be going to the Ducks, Moore took to social media to say that he hadn’t told anybody where he was planning on going to school.

Thamel has since deleted the post claiming Moore would commit to the Oregon Ducks.
5-star recruit Dakorien Moore would make Oregon Ducks history

If the Oregon Ducks and head coach Dan Lanning are in fact able to land Moore, it would make history for the Ducks.
Moore isn’t just a five-star recruit, but he is the nation’s No. 1 wide receiver who is also deemed a five-star plus recruit by certain outlets. It would be the highest-rated recruit ever nabbed by the Ducks.
Moore would surpass former Oregon edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux as the highest-rated recruit ever gotten by the Ducks. Thibodeaux is now an impact edge rusher for the New York Giants.
Even if Moore is a wide receiver, Lanning understands the importance of recruiting in the trenches, something he outlined in a Sports Illustrated article.
“Ultimately, in my opinion, winning football is winning football, and it starts in the trenches… You have to be big up front. You have to be able to win on the line of scrimmage.
“I don’t think that formula changes, but what we’re doing right now in the office is truly studying some of those opponents that we’re going to be seeing next year, and you want to start to incorporate the things you might have to do that are different for those opponents and not install those the week of the game.
You want to start to prepare for those in fall camp, so there might be a package here or two that we have to carry that’s a little bit different for some of the teams we’ll face.”
Moore is the No. 5 overall player in the 2025 class, entering his senior season at Duncanville High School in Texas in 2024. During his junior year, Moore had 65 receptions, 1,303 yards and 15 touchdowns. Many experts thought Moore would be heading to the Longhorns, but a visit to Oregon on June 21 may have changed his mind.
5-star recruit Dakorien Moore’s shot at ESPN insider Pete Thamel has invoked a last wave of recruitment from fans via social media

Upon realizing five-star recruit Dakorien Moore still had a little bit of time left before making his official decision, a last surge of social media recruitment came from the fans of Moore’s top-four teams.
Ducks quarterback commit Akili Smith Jr. replied to On3 recruiting expert Hayes Fawcett on social media, saying he was already aware of where Moore planned on going, implying that Thamel was correct and Moore would be committing to the Ducks.

Still, many fans are compiling for one last wave of recruitment, trying to get Moore to make a last-second decision to come to their school of choice. Even fans of teams outside of Moore’s top-four schools are making their last-second bid to acquire the top receiver of the 2025 class.

That’s right. You don’t want to play for the next A&M.

Some fans are even claiming that Moore still intends to go to the Ducks, but the recruit just didn’t want this decision to get leaked early. Not only was it leaked by Pete Thamel of ESPN, but The Oregonian also claimed that Dakorien Moore would be committing to the Ducks.
