The 2022 Fantasy Football season has ended. However, there is another way to play other than Redraft known as Dynasty. In Dynasty, you keep the team you drafted until they retire, or you choose to let them go. In this format both performance and longevity are considered. With that in mind, these are my 5 Best Dynasty Players at Running Back.
1. Jonathan Taylor
The 24 year old Running Back is coming off a disappointing 2022 season. However, a lot of that was due to terrible offensive line play and a generally dysfunctional offense with revolving Quarterbacks. He was injured during the season, but I believe that he will return to the dominant form he showed when he was RB1 overall in 2021.
2. Breece Hall
Hall is only 21. He is an electric runner on an offense that should continue to improve. However, he is coming off of an ACL injury in 2022, which puts him at 2. To me, Breece is worth the investment for the upside of an incredibly young, talented Running Back, regardless of the injury.
3. Kenneth Walker
22 year old Kenneth Walker looked phenomenal in his rookie year. On a Seahawks team that was way better than anticipated, he played a large role in their success. He is on a team with a good offensive line and a strong running focus. Walker should be great for many years, making him an amazing asset.
4. Christian McCaffrey
The 26 year old Running Back still appears to be as impressive as ever. After being traded to the 49ers, he continued to be dominant, ending the 2022 season as the RB2. With rotating Quarterbacks throughout the year, McCaffrey was heavily relied upon this season. He will continue to be an very large part of one of the best offenses in the NFL. He is number 4 due to his higher age.
5. Saquon Barkley
Barkley found his form again in 2022. At 25 years old he showed once again how phenomenal he is. On a highly improved New York Giants team, Saquon finished they year as the RB5. This is a great sign for his future, as he has shown his previous injuries haven’t stopped him. Like McCaffrey, it is also the age of Barkley keeping him at 5.
Honorable Mentions:
Javonte Williams
Javonte is 22 years old and looked unbelievably good when on the field. The problem was always him sharing snaps in the backfield. That issue may have been fixed, but now he has to rehab an ACL injury.
Travis Etienne
24 year old Travis Etienne missed his rookie year due to injury. However, he showed great ability and utilization this year for the Jaguars. Look for this to continue in 2023.
Josh Jacobs
At only 25 years old, Jacobs just had a superb season. Finishing as the RB3 in 2022, he should be an important part in any NFL and Fantasy roster for years to come.
