The San Francisco 49ers start their season on the road against the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field. Here are the 49ers to watch in week one against the Bears.
Elijah Mitchell
The second-year running back is one of many 49ers to watch in the opening game. Injury issues have been a concern with Mitchell. He has everything teams want in a bell cow running back, speed, elusiveness, patience, and toughness, but the question is can he stay on the field for all 17 games during a season?
49ers to Watch: Charvarius Ward
Ward is a proper lockdown corner that the 49ers’ defensive secondary has been craving for ever since Richard Sherman left the team in 2019. Look for Ward to cover the best receiver, Darnell Mooney, and take away Bears QB Justin Fields’ favorite target.
49ers to Watch: Mike McGlinchey
Coming off a torn quadricep in 2021 that ended his season after eight games, McGlinchey is on the list of 49ers to watch in week one. His first test of the 2022 season will not be an easy task. McGlinchey is tasked with slowing down Robert Quinn, who had 18.5 quarterback sacks for the Bears in 2021. Look for how Mike McGlinchey will be able to slow down Quinn in long passing downs on 2nd and 3rd downs.
Trey Lance
The are many aspects to look forward to in Lance’s 2022 debut, on and off the field, but the most important aspect to watch is how Lance will react after a bad throw, a sack, a fumble, or an interception. Lance is the most important player on the 49ers to watch in week one against the Bears.
