In more off-season news for the 49ers, the team has re-signed center Jake Brendel. The center was a name brought up often in the media, as multiple teams were interested in signing him. It has been reported today that the San Francisco 49ers plan to re-sign Brendel. Here is as much information on Brende’s return as there is.

49ers Re-Sign Center Jake Brendel
Multiple reporters have announced that the San Francisco 49ers are bringing back Jake Brendel. According to Ian Rapoport on Twitter, Brendel is set to return on a four-year deal. The deal is worth a value of $20 million max, with $8 million guaranteed. According to Rapoport, multiple teams were interested in Brendel, such as the New York Jets, but Brendel chose to return to San Francisco.
According to David Lombardi, this is a similar deal that the team gave Alex Mack when they brought him in as center. Brendel is 30 years old and entered the league in 2016. 2022 was his first year starting and did fairly well. If Jake Brendel can avoid injuries late in his career, this could be a solid pick-up by the 49ers.

As this is a four-year deal, this may take Brendel to the end of his career, which means it is a good thing he got a contract that will get him paid. More details, such as how much cap space this deal will take up in 2023 will come soon.
In 2022, Brendel ranked at three in pass-blocking efficiency among centers, according to David Lombardi. Hopefully he can keep that up in 2023.
