Just two days after it was reported that Purdy would miss just a couple of months, but be ready by training camp, those plans may have to change. Dov Kleiman posted a tweet stating that the 49ers quarterback needs Tommy John Surgery. This news is also according to orthopedic surgeon Dr. Mark Adickes.

It should also be noted in this report, the doctor’s last name is actually Adickes. Neither Brock Purdy nor the team has made a statement on his surgery yet, but as of yesterday, Purdy did confirm he was getting second opinions on his elbow. Despite Kleiman’s tweet, it is not yet confirmed. Kleiman went back on his tweet and commented that this is just Adickes’ opinion. This is still a wait-and-see situation, but it is not looking good for Purdy. As the 49ers quarterback may need Tommy John Surgery, the team will have to make plans for the 2023 season.
Kleiman stated that Adickens gave his opinion on the fact that the 49ers quarterback may need Tommy John surgery on the Dan Patrick Show.
Following this report, Ari Meirov tweeted that Purdy still has not made a decision on what he plans to do.

The team lost four quarterbacks between week one and the NFC Championship.
