The San Francisco 49ers are not having the start to the season they envisioned. After a strong week one victory over Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets, they’ve suffered back to back losses to the Minnesota Vikings and Los Angeles Rams.
1-2 and in fourth place in the NFC West is not what the reigning NFC Champions expected thus far. Unfortunately, the bad news keeps coming for San Francisco.
Breaking: 49ers Suffer Shocking Season Ending Injury (Report)
According to Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team:
BREAKING: 49ers DT Javon Hargrave tore his triceps on Sunday and will be out for the season, per HC Kyle Shanahan. A big blow to San Francisco’s defense.
This loss is huge for a defense who has been one of the best in the league. However, that hasn’t beenthe case this year.
Three games into the season, they have one of the NFL’s worst defenses. They’ve surrendered 6.1 yards per play, which is third worst among 32 NFL teams. In addition, they have allowed an average opponent passer rating of 101.5, which is sixth worst in the league. As of now, they’ve faced Aaron Rodgers after a 12-month layoff, Sam Darnold, and Matthew Stafford without his top wide receivers.
