The San Francisco 49ers dominated the Los Angeles Rams at home on Monday Night football, 24-9, and they are in sole possession of first place in the NFC West division.
49ers Defense Dominated
The 49ers’ defense was fantastic on all levels against the Rams, but the defensive line was the game’s star. It was a complete team effort to hold the Rams to only nine points in the game. The 49ers’ defense locked up the Rams all night. They had seven total sacks, led by Nick Bosa and Samson Ebukam having two sacks a piece, and stud safety Talanoa Hufanga had a pick-six to put the game on ice in the 2nd half.
The 49ers’ Offense was Dominant
The offense relied on explosive plays to beat the Rams. It started with a 32-yard touchdown run by Jeff Wilson Jr. and ended with a 54-yard touchdown catch from receiver Deebo Samuel. The offense played a clean game and played complementary football on Monday night. They didn’t turn the ball over or commit any crucial penalties to stop scoring drives, and they showed glimpses on why many people have them as legit Super Bowl contender.
What’s next for the 49ers?
San Francisco looks to build on their statement win in primetime on the road the next two weeks, starting in Carolina and ending in Atlanta, as they look to expand their lead in the NFC West. It will be interesting to see how they adjust to a long east coast road trip. The 49ers’ defense will look to continue their dominance on the road. They are holding teams to an average of 9 points per game, and in four games, they have only given up a total of 46 points. The question is will the 49ers’ offense be able to play complementary football, help the defense out, and be productive and execute in hostile environments on the road?
