The San Francisco 49ers are in the midst of a troubling off-season. One year removed from appearing in the Super Bowl, San Francisco went 6-11, finished last in their division, and missed the playoffs entirely. On top of that, the 49ers traded away one of their best weapons in Deebo Samuel this off-season and rumors have been swirling about trading away Brandon Aiyuk.
However, the franchise is reportedly considering a franchise-altering trade that would send shockwaves through the league.
Breaking: 49ers On The Brink Of Franchise-Altering Trade (Report)

During the 2025 NFL Draft, it’s inevitable that teams will move up the board to gain a certain target or drop down to gain more draft picks. The NFC may have a team that can make a run deep into the top 10:
ESPN’s Field Yates identified the San Francisco 49ers as a potential candidate to trade up from their No. 11 pick in Round 1. He suggested that scenario would become more likely if the New Giants take Shedeur Sanders with the No. 3 pick.
“That means the top two offensive tackles — LSU’s Will Campbell and Missouri’s Armand Membou — could reach the eighth pick of the draft,” Yates wrote. “Should that be the case, would San Francisco — with its major offensive line need — consider leapfrogging the Bears at No. 10 to draft one of them? The 49ers have a lot of holes to fill throughout the draft, but they also have 11 picks to work with — tied for the most.”
After making the Super Bowl, the 49ers went 6-11 during a 2024 campaign derailed by injuries. They’ve since lost considerable talent this offseason.

The 49ers watched starting guard Aaron Banks sign a four-year contract with the Green Bay Packers and tackle Jaylon Moore join the Kansas City Chiefs. While four of last season’s starters remain, their offensive line can use more depth.
“It’s really hard losing Banks and it’s really hard losing Jaylon Moore, who has been a great swing tackle who got to play a lot with Trent [Williams] being down half of last year,” 49ers general manager John Lynch said, per NBC Sports Bay Area’s Jennifer Lee Chan. “So those are the things that we really need to look to replace.”
The 49ers could also trade up to target Georgia edge rusher Jalon Walker or Michigan defensive tackle Mason Graham to replace Javon Hargrave. Then again, San Francisco’s 11 picks could come in handy after losing 17 players this offseason.
