The College Football Season is getting closer. With 46 days left until BYU kickoffs against South Florida let’s get to know some players on the roster for this upcoming season. This will give fans an idea of where these players have come from and what they could do for the cougars this season. I will do one every day there is a player with that number.

    Bodie Schoonover

Schoonover is playing ball for American Fork High School

Today is Bodie Schoonover freshman 6’4″ 215 lbs linebacker. He signed in 2020 with the Cougars and now will play his freshman season. Coming out of American Fork High School where he helped win the 2019 State Championship game for the Caveman. In his senior year, he had 54 tackles before being injured and only playing in a few games. As a Junior, he had 84 tackles and 241 reception yards. After his senior year, he played in the Polynesian Bowl in Hawaii.

    BS 3

Just came off his LDS Mission in April of 2022. On his signing day, he chose BYU over UCLA and Nebraska. He says “it’s always been a dream to play for BYU”. Schoonover grew up watching the Cougars with his grandpa who had season tickets to BYU football and basketball. Bodie Schoonover never de-committed from BYU he never didn’t consider them as not an option

Schoonover joins the tough linebacker core for the Cougars. He adds his talent to Chaz Ah You, Max Tooley, Morgan Pyper, Keenan Pili, and Pepe Tanuavasa. Payton Wilgar, Tavita Gagnier, George Udo, Matt Criddle, Jakob Robinson, Jacob Boren and Caleb Christensen. He probably won’t see the field in 2022 but definitely will learn from this star lineup. This season is going to be excited for the linebackers even if they struggle to stay healthy they have a big bench of potential starters.
