The College Football Season is getting closer. With 45 days left until BYU kickoffs against South Florida let’s get to know some players on the roster for this upcoming season. This will give fans an idea of where these players have come from and what they could do for the cougars this season. I will do one every day there is a player with that number.
Pepe Tanuvasa
Today is Pepe Tanuvasa senior defensive lineman 6-1 245 lbs. He transferred from Navy in 2018 playing in 13 games for the Midshipmen. Tanuvasa said that both programs he has played for are great college football programs. He has played at all defensive line positions for the Cougars. In 2021 he played linebacker for BYU. In his first season as a cougar in 2020, he played in 12 games with 24 tackles, one for loss, and one sack. During the Navy game, he had 8 tackles and one quarterback hurry-up. In 2021 he was moved from linebacker to defensive end where he had 3 sacks, 28 tackles, and one interception. 2022 he is listed as a linebacker and backup to Keenan Pili.
Tanuvasa went on an LDS mission to Florida and served there for two years. While in high school he earned honorable state mention as a junior and second team as a senior. He also played rugby in high school in Oregon. Now ready to play for the Cougars this season in whatever position he is needed at one defense they have him on the depth chart as a linebacker for the upcoming 2022 season.
