Nine training camp days have taken place for the Seattle Seahawks at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center (VMAC) in Renton, Washington.
The Hawks held a “mock game” Saturday where they got to see some glimpses of every player. There was a blue team and a green team. Both sides played well, and there are a few names in particular that grabbed fans’ attention.
Tariq Woolen (CB)
Woolen, originally a 3-star wide receiver recruit, turned into a cornerback and is doing exceptionally well at camp. He is out on the frontlines guarding some of the top wide receivers in the game like D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett.

Woolen is one of the few guys who can give Metcalf a challenge at practice. Ultimately, their competitive nature will help make each of them better football players.
Keep an eye on rookie, Tariq Woolen for a potential start at cornerback.
Cody Thompson (WR)
Thompson signed with Seattle back in January of 2022. Thompson stepped up in a big way during the Hawks’ mock game. He put up 43 yards on 3 receptions and a touchdown. As a a 6-2 receiver, he can accommodate and support the Seahawks in a big way this season.
While pressure is on D.K. and Lockett, Thompson could take on a role to serve as the open receiver when the pressure isn’t on him.
Darrell Taylor (DE)
During Seattle’s mock game, Taylor was more than noticeable at the line of scrimmage. He is a disruptive edge rusher who could easily make a huge impact and apply pressure on opposing quarterbacks.

The 6-4, 267 pounder gives the Hawks valuable edge pressure which can in turn open up opportunities for the emerging Seattle Secondary to get interceptions and turn the ball over effectively.
Kenneth Walker III (RB)
Walker did a bit of everything during Seattle’s mock game. He ran the ball in for a touchdown, blocked, took kickoff returns, and much more. He is one of Seattle’s quickest new running backs.

One of his biggest strengths is being able to stop on a dime, redirect himself, and gain positive yardage. The running back room may have lost Chris Carson, but it gained a speed demon in Kenneth Walker III.
Final Thoughts
The Seattle Seahawks are coming into 2022 with giant chips on their shoulders. Not a lot of people believe they will win many games. John Schneider and Pete Carroll did a better job drafting this year and it’s going to show on tape come week 1 versus Denver at home.
Training Camp in Seattle is exciting with a ton of new fresh young talent at the frontlines. No position is locked in. There will continue to be plenty of competition to come.
