3 Things To Watch For In The Packers Second Preseason Game

The Packers second preseason game against the Saints is on Friday. The Packers have had a couple of preseason practices with the Saints before they face off on Friday. Here are 3 things to watch for in the Packers second preseason game.

    Jordan Love’s Improvement

Aaron Rodgers felt 'really bad' for Jordan Love during mistake-laden preseason opener

This is what every game that Jordan Love is a part of will be about. However, it is important to look at Love’s performance through a certain lens. He improved in the first preseason game. He has looked more comfortable in practice. In this game, it is important that the Packers see more improvement. He was inconsistent in the first game and while the interceptions were not his fault, it would be nice to see a cleaner stat sheet. Love won’t be perfect, but he has to show improvement.

    Packers Running Game

How many RBs will Packers carry and who will they be?

The two joint practices against the Saints have not been fruitful for the running game. Aaron Jones has not been playing and AJ Dillon has played sparingly but that shouldn’t matter a ton. The Packers have been stuffed at the line no matter what side they try to run on. Some of this is the offensive line that is continually shuffling pieces around. The right side of the line especially has been inconsistent. It makes Packers fans long for the return of Elgton Jenkins and David Bakhtiari. It will be interesting to see whether the Packers can establish any kind of running game during the second preseason game.

    A Game With No Drops?

Drops have been a problem for the Packers young receivers. Doubs especially has had many highlight plays but also some unforgiveable drops. Tyler Davis is highly regarded by the Packers coaching staff but had a crucial drop in the first preseason game and a rough week at practice. I would be surprised if we see too many of the trusted starters so the question becomes whether the Packers young pass catchers can have a game with no drops. This would help the Packers feel a lot better about their receiving corps after the second preseason game.

Steady improvement is all you want to see. Oddly enough, the defense feels pretty set besides some depth chart questions. For the offense, the Packers need to see steady improvement in their second preseason game.
