3 Reasons Why The Seahawks Are Going To Lose Monday

It’s no secret that the Seahawks are going to lose a lot of games this NFL season. The roster is one of the weakest the Seahawks have had in years. A lot of rookies will start on both sides of the ball. some of the young guys may pleasantly surprise us. However, we should expect growing pains.

The Seahawks Are Going To Start Rookies

The Seahawks are expected to start rookies Charles Cross, Abraham Lucas, and Tariq Woolen.  The three of them play critical positions on the field. Cross plays left tackle, Lucas plays right tackle, and additionally Woolen plays corner. The Seahawks are placing a lot of trust in these rookies. In spite of their talent, I believe that this is out of necessity more than anything.

The Seahawk’s offensive line has been historically bad in recent years, so there’s no reason not to give the rookies a chance to play immediately. How much worse could it get? All reports from training camp and pre-season about the two rookie tackles are positive. I’m excited to see what they can do in a full game at full speed.

In the 2022 draft, Seattle also took several defensive backs. Tariq Woolen is expected to start at corner on the right side of the defense. Additionally, rookie Coby Bryant is expected to be the starting Nickel corner. Both of these guys are athletic freaks who had great college careers. But on the other hand, playing defensive back in the NFL is very different than playing the position in college. They cannot rely on athleticism alone.

The Denver Broncos Are A Good Team

When you compare Denver’s roster to that of Seattle, it becomes clear why I think the Seahawks are going to lose Monday night. The Broncos are a much more complete team on both sides of the ball. For example, Denver had the third-ranked defense overall last season. Only bested by New England and Buffalo.

The defense is led by its secondary. Rookie Patrick Surtain II came in and made an immediate impact with four interceptions last season. There’s no reason to think he would take a step back. The secondary was ranked in the top ten in overall passing defense and was in the top five in most statistical categories defensively.

This is bad news for Seattle. Geno Smith lost his starting job with the jets and became a career backup for a reason. If he doesn’t turn the ball over at all Monday, I will be pleasantly surprised.

The Broncos are no slouch on offense either. Last season the Broncos had more total yards and a better third down conversion percentage than the Seahawks. Keep in mind the broncos were starting Drew Lock and the Seahawks were starting Russell Wilson.

Denver’s offense will take a leap forward with Russell Wilson at the helm. Denver’s rushing attack was statistically similar to Seattle’s in 2021. The Broncos also have a budding star in receiver Jerry Jeudy. Jeudy is no DK Metcalf, but he is healthy this season and has a competent quarterback throwing him the ball. I expect him to take a big step forward.

The Final Verdict On Monday’s Game

The Seahawks are going to lose Monday, however, they are not going to come out and just roll over. The team is still coached by Pete Carroll and he is still a great motivator. Additionally, the Seahawks player may come out with something to prove. Not only are they playing their former quarterback, but they’ve been maligned all off-season.

The Seahawks are going to play hard and I fully expect them to keep it close for a while. Lumen field is going to be LOUD on Monday night. The players will feel the energy of the fans and use it as fuel, but in the end, the talent disparity will rear its head and the Seahawks will lose on Monday by a score of 27 to 13.
