#3 Ohio State Buckeyes Fans Argue Whether QB Cam Ward Would Dominate In Columbus

While the Ohio State Buckeyes have dominated with quarterback Will Howard, many wonder what another quarterback could have done.

Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward was once a Washington State Cougars sensation, pulling off big upset wins over teams like Wisconsin. Ward opted to enter the transfer portal in search of more NIL earnings, but quickly entered his name into the NFL Draft and seemed to end his collegiate career.

However, Ward would return to the collegiate football landscape and re-enter the transfer portal after withdrawing his name from the draft.

Not only was Ward not ready for the NFL yet, but the leverage he had tried to use the NFL for did not work in terms of NIL money earned. Ward refused to attend schools that were interested in the quarterback due both NIL payments as well as championship hopes. One of the schools Ward eventually refused to attend was Ohio State, after the Ohio State Buckeyes allegedly offered Ward an offer he felt was ‘uncompetitive’.

The Ohio State Buckeyes staff would eventually secure Kansas State Wildcats transfer Will Howard to take over for transfer Kyle McCord. Ward would go on to choose the Hurricanes, and has been lighting up the field with his calm, cool delivery of the football.

Cam Ward was asking for too much money, so Ohio State went in a different direction.

Many Buckeye fans wanted Cam Ward over Howard, which leads me to my question..

However, it seems as though the Ohio State Buckeyes fans would rather stick with the current quarterback they have.

Cam Ward is a more talented quarterback than Will Howard. Will Howard is a better fit to lead this 2024 Ohio state offense than cam ward. Correct choice was made

Ohio State Buckeyes Staff Content With Transfer Quarterback Decision 

While some fans may prefer to have the flashy, more mobile quarterback in Ward, many fans are also content with the decision made.

Perhaps the ones who are most content with the decision are the Ohio State Buckeyes staff members, who pivoted to Howard. The Kansas State quarterback was a hot commodity in the portal and eventually would become a more suitable and affordable option at quarterback.

The Ohio State Buckeyes have plenty of talent to surround Howard, and arguably do not need a quarterback to do everything for the offense. Howard have an excellent developing receiver in Jeremiah Smith, along with two talented running backs in Quinshon Judkins and TreVeyon Henderson.
